Review: 1998 Clark Omega 5ECH Laden Container Handler
Clark Omega 5ECH Laden Container Handler: The Introduction
Container forklifts are just some of the industrial vehicles that you should never overlook if you’re managing a warehouse. Not only can these compact trucks transport your empty or laden containers in a jiffy, they can also maximise the productivity and efficiency of your workers. Now, when purchasing a unit, there are several factors that you must put into consideration. Few of these are the quality, the capacity, and the power. Of course, you have to make sure that your new forklift can meet the heavy demands of your operations.
In today’s review, I will then be featuring a particular container forklift model that I think possesses these factors that I’m talking about. The model is the 5ECH from Clark Omega. Let’s see if this can be a good fit for your material handling projects.
Clark Omega 5ECH Laden Container Handler: Key Features
It was not so long ago when we had the chance to hop behind the wheels of the 5ECH. And basing from our test experience, I can say that it’s truly a dependable piece of equipment. Similar to other forklift trucks in the Omega range, it provides unbeatable performance, power, and reliability in the most arduous of operations. It comes complete with a host of superb features, too, making it an outstanding investment.
The 5ECH is designed and manufactured here in Australia. But that isn’t the only great thing about it. Upon testing, another aspect that caught my eye was its power and performance. This laden container handler equips a Cummins engine and a ZF 3WG 3-speed transmission that comes with an electronic control. These two, along with the 13800 mm lift height capacity, help it to be capable of handling 16000 kg of materials at 1200 mm load centre.
Other features that also maximise its efficiency are its pneumatic tyres, Kessler heavy duty planetary axle, and wet disc brakes.
Honestly, for such an old model, the 1998 Omega 5ECH is too ergonomic. It brings this fully enclosed tilt cabin that not only gives good visibility through the mast, but also provides safety under the toughest applications. It has a luxurious suspension seat as well, and ergonomically laid out fingertip controls for easy operation. Aside from these, it boasts its outstanding stability and strength, too.
Packed with superb features from one of the biggest names in the material handling industry, there’s no doubt that the 5ECH can suit a wide array of working environments. Basing from our test, I find it ideal for timber yards, steel mills, concrete plants, transport, or other applications where extra capacity is needed.

Clark Omega 5ECH Laden Container Handler: The Verdict
High quality, strong power, and large capacity. These qualities pretty much sum up the 1998 Clark Omega 5ECH Laden Container Handler. I know that it isn’t the best in the class, but basing from our test, I believe that it is still a worthy inclusion in your warehouse operations. What I personally loved about it is its high-performance engine and its fast travel speed. Its 16000 kg load capacity and excellent operator comfort are plus points as well since these ensure you that you can transport containers from one area to another without the hassle. Apart from warehouses, I also find the 5ECH suitable for shipping docks and height-restricted areas.
