Not one, but two Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks have made it to the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) Awards for Excellence shortlist. According to sources, the models that will be competing against other big names in the industry for the much coveted Archie statuette are the SENSiA cold store reach truck and the EDiA EX 80 volt electric truck.
Well, as we all know, Mitsubishi is no longer a newbie in events such as the FLTA. If we could remember, most of their warehouse and electric industrial vehicle range have already earned several design awards before. In fact, they are the first manufacturer to bring home an Archie award in each of four product award categories of FLTA. These categories are Environment, Ergonomics, Safety, and Innovation.
For the event’s 23rd year, the finalists have been selected by the Technical Committee. They have recognised Mitsubishi’s EDiA EX for the Innovation category due to its one-of-a-kind steering geometry that produces a “four-wheel-drive” experience even in the most demanding turns. Its turning radius was a big factor as well. Particularly, the model incorporates counter-rotating drive wheels along with a 100 degree turn rear axle. These enable it to turn more effortlessly if compared to its rivals.
On the other hand, the jury finds the Mitsubishi SENSiA Cold Store Reach Truck fit for the Ergonomics category. This model brings the largest and most efficient forklift cabin in the world. Not only does it feature an outwardly curved door profile that gives ample driver space, it also provides a clear and uncluttered station for operators of all sizes. Other aspects of the SENSiA that caught the committee’s interest were its slim-beam profile, unique hi-vis polycarbonate roof, logically laid out controls, and the large glass that offers a 360-degree visibility.
The FLTA Awards for Excellence is said to be the most prestigious event in the industry of material handling. Held annually, their next event is set to take place on March 4th, 2017
