Toyota Material Handling Australia (TMHA) is renowned here in the country for being the leading forklift supplier. And earlier this month, they’ve enhanced their lineup by announcing a new range of automatic-guided vehicle (AGV) forklifts, which are slated to hit the market August this year.
According to TMHA, the said forklifts, branded as the BT Staxio SAE160 Autopilot Stacker AGV forklifts, are fitted with an innovative autopilot technology that offers driver-less operation for busy warehouses and storage rooms with repetitive tasks, such as transporting, stacking, or picking. The unique technology can work independently or along with a manually-operated equipment, while the new AGV forklifts can work as a “stand-alone,” meaning, they can be operated manually for simple applications, like transporting of materials, for added versatility.
As said by Tony Raggio, TMHA’s national sales and product manager – automation, one of the key features of Toyota’s new AGV range is its similarity to other BT pallet truck, reach forklift, and order picker models. “Our AGV-enabled forklifts are essentially the same as their existing manual counterparts, with the only difference being the addition of Toyota’s Autopilot technology,” Raggio explained. “This means operators can enjoy all the reliability, safety and durability benefits expected of Toyota forklifts with the added benefits of automation – while servicing and maintenance procedures remain unchanged,” he added.
Specifications wise, the BT Staxio SAE160 Autopilot Stacker AGV forklifts can carry materials up to 2.0 tonnes, and can lift up to 5 meters high. They will also come with full support services. As pointed out by Mr. Raggio, “another advantage is that, as a Toyota-backed product we offer full nationwide back-up and support services – the same as for any other forklift or other item of material handling equipment.”
“AGV customers in Europe are reporting significant increases in productivity as soon as they take up the technology, and we expect the ROI for the AGV forklifts to be between 12 and 36 months,” Raggio then concluded.
