The container lift trucks’ market has gotten another boost in the form of Kalmar’s DCG180-330, which will fall under the 18-33 tonne capacity range. The powerful machine has been precisely engineered for heavy-duty cargo handling in industrial and material handling applications, and is even touted as the benchmark in its class when it comes to productivity and cost-efficiency.
The addition of the powerhouse truck in Kalmar’s range of forklifts serves as the company’s response to the customers demand for a top-performing equipment with greater safety features and improved cost efficiency. But aside from the aforementioned factors, the DCG180-330 container lift truck also comes with three different drive modes, which are all enhanced to meet operational requirements of heavy-duty applications. Additionally, the EGO cabin provides the operator with exceptional visibility, low noise levels and intelligent ergonomics, representing one of the most user-friendly environments currently available.
“Compared to our previous model, the new DCG180-330 uses up to 15 per cent less fuel* in standard configuration. Add Kalmar’s renowned product quality and reliability, increasing efficiency and uptime, and you see the true value of Kalmar,” the company said in a statement. “Thanks to improved and more durable components, service intervals have been extended. The first service is due after 500 hours, compared to 50 hours for our previous model.”
The truck also boasts of an optimised lift speed, thanks to the variable hydraulic system which senses the load in every operation and adjusts the oil flow accordingly. Meanwhile, the lifting cycles are also up by 40% faster compared to the previous model, thus, making it much easier for the operator to position the equipment for the succeeding lifts.
“Kalmar continues to set the standard for forklift productivity, safety and low ownership costs. Purchase price is only one of many factors affecting total cost of ownership. In fact, price is a minor cost factor over the lifetime of a forklift. What truly matters in the long run is cost control and operational efficiency and they will show clearly on the customer’s bottom line,” Vice President of Kalmar Forklift Trucks, Thomas Malmborg said.
With its set of all-powerful new specs and reliable standard features, the Kalmar DCG180-330 is clearly a frontrunner in its class. The efficient Cummins and (optional) Volvo engines that comes with the truck make for a great deal, too, and should keep the forklift quite relevant and reliable for years to come in the container forklift market.
